Simultaneous intensive photometry and high resolution spectroscopy of delta Scuti stars. III. Mode identifications and physical calibrations in HD 2724
On the basis of our new simultaneous photometry and spectroscopy (885 \(uvby \) differential measurements in 11 nights and 154 spectrograms ofthe FeII\( \lambda \)4508 region in 5 nights), we can detect 12 probableperiodicities in the variability pattern of this star, determining thefrequencies of 7 without any ambiguity. Through a direct fit ofpulsational models to our data, we estimate the inclination ofrotational axis to be about 50\( ^{\circ} \) and get a reliableidentification of 4 modes as well as useful bits of information aboutthe others: no retrograde mode is visible, whereas the star seems toshow a certain preference for purely sectorial prograde oscillations. Finally, the attribution of our lowest frequency to the radialfundamental pulsation allows a new calibration of physical parameters. In particular, the gravity can be determined with unusual accuracy andthe luminosity evaluation becomes more consistent with the Hipparcosastrometry. This work is based on observations performed at the EuropeanSouthern Observatory (ESO), La Silla, Chile.

Multiple systems of astrophysical interest. III - When is a binary wide?
The possibility that the statistics of wide binaries, used to testtheories of stellar encounters, are biased against large separations isexamined on the basis of known widely spaced systems of objects withcommon space motion. It is possible to conclude that before concepts ofstellar interactions can be quantized both unbiased samples of widebinaries and some knowledge of their ages are necessary.

Hyades and Sirius supercluster members brighter than magnitude(V) 7.1. I - The first six hours of right ascension
This is the first of four papers listing the probable members of theHyades and Sirius superclusters among stars brighter than V = 7.1 mag.The star sample is contained in the Bright Star Catalogue and itsSupplement, augmented with a further supplement of 550 stars foundduring various observing programs over the past 40 years. Accurate,four-color and H-beta, or (RI), photometry is available for most of thesupercluster members. The criteria for membership are the comparisons ofthe proper motion, radial velocity, and luminosity obtained from thesupercluster parameters with the observed motions and the luminosityderived from the photometric parameters. New proper motions, based onall available catalogs, have been derived for the additional 550 starsdiscussed here, as well as for all supercluster members.
