Dark matter in the inner parts of barred galaxies: The data
This paper presents surface photometry (B,V,I,J,H,K) and Hαrotation curves of 27 isolated spiral galaxies. The final goal is toobtain the mass distribution of a sample of isolated spiral galaxies inorder to model their gas kinematics. This is then compared to theobserved rotation curve, to determine the necessity of a dark halo inthe inner parts (Perez et al. 2004, A&A, 424, 799). The azimuthallyaveraged radial surface brightness profiles and the integratedmagnitudes obtained from ellipse fitting are given for each of thesample galaxies. The ellipse fitting technique applied to the lightdistribution also allowed us to obtain the size of the bar, and theinclination and position angle of the outer isophotes that allow thegalaxy deprojection. Using these profiles, 1-D disk-bulge decompositionwas performed to obtain the disk scale-length and the bulge effectiveradius for the different bands. Through the fitting of a parametricfunction to the observed rotation curve, the maximum rotational velocityand the corresponding radius was obtained. The correlation between thebulge and disk parameters is in agreement with previous studies (de Jong1996a, A&A, 313, 45; Márquez & Moles 1999, A&A, 344,421; Baggett et al. 1998, AJ, 116, 1626). Regarding the Kormendyrelation (Kormendy 1977, ApJ, 218, 333), in agreement with de Jong, nocorrelation between the bulge effective radius and its surfacebrightness is found, possibly due to the small range of bulge magnitudescovered. We find a smaller scatter in the structural relations whencompared to non-isolated samples in agreement with Márquez &Moles (1999). Finally, a correlation between the disk scale-length andthe bar size is observed, possibly reflecting the rapid growth of a bar.

Physical Coupling of Kazarian Galaxies with Surrounding Galaxies
Results from a statistical study of Kazarian galaxies and the objectssurrounding them are presented. It is shown that: (1) the sample ofKazarian galaxies up to 16m.0 is complete. (2) Roughly 35.7% of theKazarian galaxies are members of clusters, 14.0% of groups, and 13.6% ofbinary systems, while 36.7% are single galaxies. (3) Of the 580 Kazariangalaxies, roughly 61.2% are infrared, 8.8% radio, and 2.8% x-raysources. (4) The relative numbers of Kazarian galaxies for completesamples of I, R, and X in the different groups are systematically higherthan the corresponding numbers for samples of all Kazarian galaxies.

HYPERLEDA. II. The homogenized HI data
After a compilation of HI data from 611 references and new observationsmade in Nançay, we produce a catalog of homogenized HI data for16781 galaxies. The homogenization is made using the EPIDEMIC methodfrom which all data are progressively converted into the adoptedstandard. The result is a catalog giving: 1) the logarithm of twice themaximum rotation velocity, log 2V_Msin i, converted to thesystem of Mathewson et al. (\cite{Mathewson1996}). This quantity isgiven without correction for inclination; 2) the HI magnitude,m21, (area of the 21-cm line width expressed in magnitude)converted to the flux system of Theureau et al. (\cite{Theureau1998});3) the HI velocity, V_HI, expressed with the optical definition (i.e.,using wavelengths instead frequencies). The typical uncertainties are:0.04 for log 2V_Msin i, 0.25 mag for m21 and 9 kms-1 for V_HI.Full Tables \ref{epidemicw}, \ref{epidemicw2}, \ref{epidemicf},\ref{epidemicf2} and Fig. \ref{profiles} are available in electronicform at http://www.edpsciences.org. Nearby Optical Galaxies: Selection of the Sample and Identification of Groups
In this paper we describe the Nearby Optical Galaxy (NOG) sample, whichis a complete, distance-limited (cz<=6000 km s-1) andmagnitude-limited (B<=14) sample of ~7000 optical galaxies. Thesample covers 2/3 (8.27 sr) of the sky (|b|>20deg) andappears to have a good completeness in redshift (97%). We select thesample on the basis of homogenized corrected total blue magnitudes inorder to minimize systematic effects in galaxy sampling. We identify thegroups in this sample by means of both the hierarchical and thepercolation ``friends-of-friends'' methods. The resulting catalogs ofloose groups appear to be similar and are among the largest catalogs ofgroups currently available. Most of the NOG galaxies (~60%) are found tobe members of galaxy pairs (~580 pairs for a total of ~15% of objects)or groups with at least three members (~500 groups for a total of ~45%of objects). About 40% of galaxies are left ungrouped (field galaxies).We illustrate the main features of the NOG galaxy distribution. Comparedto previous optical and IRAS galaxy samples, the NOG provides a densersampling of the galaxy distribution in the nearby universe. Given itslarge sky coverage, the identification of groups, and its high-densitysampling, the NOG is suited to the analysis of the galaxy density fieldof the nearby universe, especially on small scales.

The Southern Sky Redshift Survey
We report redshifts, magnitudes, and morphological classifications for5369 galaxies with m_B <= 15.5 and for 57 galaxies fainter than thislimit, in two regions covering a total of 1.70 sr in the southerncelestial hemisphere. The galaxy catalog is drawn primarily from thelist of nonstellar objects identified in the Hubble Space TelescopeGuide Star Catalog (GSC). The galaxies have positions accurate to ~1"and magnitudes with an rms scatter of ~0.3 mag. We compute magnitudes(m_SSRS2) from the relation between instrumental GSC magnitudes and thephotometry by Lauberts & Valentijn. From a comparison with CCDphotometry, we find that our system is homogeneous across the sky andcorresponds to magnitudes measured at the isophotal level ~26 magarcsec^-2. The precision of the radial velocities is ~40 km s^-1, andthe redshift survey is more than 99% complete to the m_SSRS2 = 15.5 maglimit. This sample is in the direction opposite that of the CfA2; incombination the two surveys provide an important database for studies ofthe properties of galaxies and their large-scale distribution in thenearby universe. Morphological classification of new galaxies with a UV excess
The results of a morphological classification of 580 galaxies with a UVexcess, included in the lists in [M. A. Kazarian, Astrofizika,15, 5(1979); ibid.,15, 193 (1979); M. A. Kazarian and É. S. Kazarian,ibid.,16, 17 (1980); ibid.,18, 512 (1982); ibid.,19, 213 (1983)], arepresented. For this we have developed a set of symbols, using the typesE, S, and Ir introduced by Hubble, as well as symbols introduced byother authors and us. This set enabled us to make the morphologicalclassification. Direct photographs obtained on the 2.6-m and 6-mtelescopes were used to classify 141 of the galaxies (over 24%), whilePalomar Atlas charts were used for the remaining 439 galaxies. Thesegalaxies were divided into two groups based on classificationconditions, and data on each group are given in Tables 1 and 2,respectively. The results for each group, given in Table 3, show thatwith the transition from early types, such as C and E, to later types,such as S and Ir, the relative number of galaxies going into one group(Table 1), in which the classification was based on direct photographs,increases in comparison with the number going into the other group(Table 2).

The Catalog of Southern Ringed Galaxies
The Catalog of Southern Ringed Galaxies (CSRG) is a comprehensivecompilation of diameters, axis ratios, relative bar position angles, andmorphologies of inner and outer rings, pseudorings, and lenses in 3692galaxies south of declination -17 deg. The purpose of the catalog is toevaluate the idea that these ring phenomena are related to orbitalresonances with a bar or oval in galaxy potentials. The catalog is basedon visual inspection of most of the 606 fields of the Science ResearchCouncil (SRC) IIIa-J southern sky survey, with the ESO-B, ESO-R, andPalomar Sky surveys used as auxiliaries when needed for overexposed coreregions. The catalog is most complete for SRC fields 1-303 (mostly southof declination -42 deg). In addition to ringed galaxies, a list of 859mostly nonringed galaxies intended for comparison with other catalogs isprovided. Other findings from the CSRG that are not based on statisticsare the identification of intrinsic bar/ring misalignment; bars whichunderfill inner rings; dimpling of R'1pseudorings; pointy, rectangular, or hexagonal inner or outer ringshapes; a peculiar polar-ring-related system; and other extreme examplesof spiral structure and ring morphology.

Radio-continuum sources in nearby and bright E/S0 galaxies - Sample selection and well-studied cases
A volume-limited sample of 216 nearby and optically bright E/S0 galaxieshas been compiled. Twelve of the galaxies are confirmed radio sourcesfor which VLA images are available. Most of the remaining galaxies havepowers less than or of the order of 10 to the 21st-22nd W/Hz, and thisinformation is used to establish the parameters of a new VLA survey ofthese galaxies. The basic optical properties of the galaxies in thesample are tabulated.

Dynamical and photometric models of star formation in tidal tails
An investigation into the causes of star formation in tidal tails hasbeen conducted using a restricted three-body dynamical model inconjunction with a broadband photometric evolutionary code. Testparticles are initially placed in circular orbits around a softenedpoint mass and then perturbed by a companion passing in a paraboticorbit. During the passage, the density evolution of the galaxy isexamined both in regions within the disk and in selected comovingregions in the tidal features. Even without the inclusion ofself-gravity and hydrodynamics, regions of compression form inside thedisk, along the tidal tail, and in the tidal bridge causing localdensity increases of up to 500 percent. By assuming that the densitychanges relate to the star-formation rate via a Schmidt (1959) law,limits on the density changes needed to make detectable changes in thecolors are calculated. A spiral galaxy population is synthesized and theeffects of modest changes in the star-formation rate are explored usinga broadband photometric evolutionary code. Density changes similar tothose found in the dynamical models will cause detectable changes in thecolors of a stellar population. From these models, it is determined thatthe blue colors and knotty features observed in the tidal features ofsome galaxies result from increased rates of star formation induced bytidally produced density increases. Limitations of this model arediscussed along with photometric evolutionary models based on thedensity evolution in the tails.
